Veins of Colour

I had my weekly check up with my doctors today and as I was getting changed in the morning my mind was on a documentary I had previously been watching on the heart. I was mesmerised by the vast structures of veins and arteries, continuously working to pump blood to all the extremities of one's body. The images of these branching vessels reminded me of tall, majestic trees and the very beauty in the design of the human body.

As such I chose to wear a fine stripe shirt, with what I often consider as green veins running down it. I always envisage a tree bark, with its rough and weathered exterior leading down to a vast system of supple roots, barely seen, coarsing through the soil beneath us. I decided to match this green with my socks, a slight allusion to the colour without being too direct.

Atop the shirt I wore a cream woolen sweater with brown buttons, carrying on the natural and earthy feel I sought. As opposed to the deep brown cotton trousers I would have liked to have worn, I thought to make the concept less literal I would instead wear some faded denim jeans. Although this particular pair was pre-faded, I always find an inherent beauty in the idea of organic fading caused by the individual wear. Indeed this is why I am so fascinated by the idea of raw denim, and the search for that unique and owner based fading.
