Once upon a time I did my undergraduate degree in History of Art, so seeing this editorial made me smile. I thought it would be fun to try and guess the paintings used for inspiration (one I am on the fence about, but it is a famous painting so it seemed to fit). There is a full list of the actual references online I’m sure, but where is the fun in that? Feel free to let me know if you think another painting makes more sense!
