Comme des Garçons Homme Plus
Fall/Winter 2003
Tailored, smart, witty, subversive - the ideal combination.
I need a blazer, and I think Rei may have the answer.
I do not currently own a complete suit (by which I mean a jacket and trousers made of the same fabric), and have not for well over a year now. Part of me never thought that there would be a time when I would ever not own a suit, however it is a place I have found myself in without really even realizing it. Lately a lounge suit has not been something I find myself necessarily wanting, or indeed needing, to wear, so for now my priorities in building up my wardrobe are elsewhere. I have spent the majority of my life in suits, so finding that empty space in my wardrobe is admittedly a rather odd experience. So far it is not something I have experienced as being any sort of lack, rather it simply feels like a space that has been temporarily vacated. I find myself slowly returning to the idea of a suit, albeit in a less traditional sense than I would have otherwise thought. My formal dress at the moment actually consists mainly of Comme des Garçons garments, so I suppose Comme des Garçons becomes the logical place to begin the consideration of creating a more comprehensive formal selection. I will no doubt need to invest in a lounge suit soon enough, but for now pairing a blazer and some trousers feels comfortable. It feels right.
