Ribbed For Fall

The weather has been delightfully warm as of late, and although Autumn is most certainly in the air, there has not yet been need for more than a sweater and light jacket. The transition from Summer into Autumn always brings up the more practical issues of the daily outfit, especially considering the characteristically fickle weather. Layering tends to be the easiest solution however, and thankfully there are still those days where a jacket can simply be dispensed with. Indeed one can instead find a few warmer layers the ideal solution, with a windbreaker and umbrella safely stowed away in one's bag. I realise that it has been rather a while since I last did an outfit post, and given the practical considerations for my outfit today, I thought it would make for a good seasonal transition. For me there is something about ribbed jersey which always conjures up comforting images of warm yet fresh Autumnal days, and as such I decided to pull out a simple grey ribbed jersey vest. A well fitted vest (I believe my American readers would probably find tank a suitable term) is always that little bit warmer than simply wearing a t-shirt as one's primary layer, and jersey as opposed to rough cotton also provides that extra warmth. I was looking to keep my outfit quite simple, and rather than going for thin layers and playing upon fabric textures, I went for a flannel plaid shirt. Once again, flannel always puts me in mind for the Autumn, and whilst it may not yet be cold enough to require a heavy duty flannel work shirt, this thinner option was perfect. In keeping with the simple and slightly rugged theme, a pair of broken in denim jeans and brown leather brogue boots finished off the outfit. Currently playing: Can You Feel Me - Cassie xxxx
