Peter And The Wolf

Taking inspiration from Sergei Prokofiev's classic musical tale, Peter And The Wolf, is the Fall 09 collection from Philip Sparks. The rugged and historically rooted clothing of the collection manages in itself to evoke the wonderful setting and nature of Prokofiev's timeless story.

The tactile and warm materials used in the collection, such as the flannels and thick woolen knits, allow for a practicality in light of the winter weather, however also have a decidedly sporting feel to them. Indeed this feeling is further evoked with looks such as the styling of high boots paired with the jodhpur trousers. The smart interpretation of the materials are clearly based in the traditional history of mens' tailoring, allowing for timeless and classic styling. The mixture of patterns and textures gives the collection a luxuriously tactile and visually rich finish, whilst being far from overpowering in its realisation. The use of fur in the collection is one that can not be ignored, however the use from animals considered as rodents and often culled in urban areas is quite a responsible decision as opposed to the alternatives.

What are your thoughts on the collection?

Prokofiev's tale has had many adaptations over the years, however the following by Disney has remained one of my favourites.
