"Cameras For Eyes and Horses For Hearts"
The design duo of Mjolk, Lars Stoten and John Clark, once again prove their ability to create and construct a stunning collection. Their latest Fall 09 effort, entitled Cameras For Eyes and Horses For Hearts managed to amaze and entice me to say the least.
An appropriately autmunal feel ran through the collection, evoked both by the colour palette and fabric choices. The earthy tones were joined by blues and deep reds, allowing for a colourful contrast. Indeed these choices managed to provide a wonderfully suprising twist, without being overly vivacious or harsh on the eye. With the use of fabrics including merino wool, fine combed cotton and herringbone tweed, there was a wonderfully comfortable and cosy nature to the pieces. The autumnal colours were complimented by these soft and appropriately thicker fabrics.
The micro prints of the tailoring and use of smaller patterning helped to create a visually rich finish. Approaching the clothing for a closer look provided the viewer with a pleasant and engaging surprise. The cloth managed to change almost entirely as one would note the patterning in detail. The play on proportions throughout the collection also helped to give an interesting silhouette to each look. Although not exactly new, the combination of the oversized and long knitwear over fitted jeans for example was particularly fascinating. In contrast, the unique cut of the trousers in general were beautifully executed and constructed, whilst also being fresh in their inception. The accessories including scarves and a backpack helped to add a wonderful finish to the collection.
What are your thoughts on the collection?
