2001 meets 2009 - Louis Vuitton

For one of their 2009 Louis Vuitton collections, creative director Marc Jacobs has decided to rework the 2001 collaboration with the late Stephen Sprouse. The ready-to-wear garments and accessories will feature Sprouse-style graffiti and rose emblems, combined with Louis Vuitton styling by Marc. The latest issue of Harper's Bazaar will be featuring a photoshoot of Marc and pieces from the collection, by the ever present, Terry Richardson.

I personally find this quite a fitting tribute to the late designer. It was the 2001 collaboration, which further helped with the reinvention of Louis Vuitton under Marc. Indeed the pieces were so popular that they sold out almost immediately. Sprouse's 1987 graffiti leopard print also featured on shoes and handbags in the Fall 06 Louis Vuitton collection, which again sold out instantly. A book is also lined for release in 2009 on the life and career of Stephen Sprouse.

What do you think of the rework?

I shall try to comment back on all of your lovely blogs soon!
