Chaos Point for NSPCC
Last week saw Vivienne Westwood pairing up with London Musici in order to produce an exclusive fashion and music show in aid of the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). Her Gold Label collection, entitled Chaos Point, was inspired by ecological crisis and freedom fighters living in the forest, who were at one with nature. Westwood actually went to the Portland School in Nottingham to explain her collection to the children, who would then paint their understanding onto the garments for the show. As such the collection was indeed for the children and designed by the children.
The collection is far from understated, and I must admit I enjoy it. Although I am not sure to what extent the outfits are practical, I find myself drawn towards the child painted pieces. There is something about the unique hand painted designs that I find appealing. Plus the fact that the collection was created for charity and child safety is in itself a welcome note.
