Shot-a-day

A few of the recent daily snaps by 'underground' design legend, Futura. For a brief insight click here for my original post.

I personally adore the concept behind his website, posting a photograph once a day. These daily photographs provide an insight into his life, his inspirations and often sneak peeks into the creative processes for his commisions, with brands such as Nike or with art galleries. Often it is quite simple to see the general inspiration for a specific designer, one is able to say in passing that a piece is 'safari' style or inspired by 'art deco'. However it is only through exclusive access that one is able to see the direct inspirations for certain projects. As such Futura's website is an unusual one, even though the images are often quite cryptic. Personally I find his photographs interesting and inspiring, although not always what one would consider as 'good' photography, the viewpoints, colours and ideas, coupled with often witty titles, allow a rare insight.

As of late, I have been thinking of ways I could possibly improve my own photographic skills, given that I am a novice (to say the least!). I was just wondering whether people would be interested if I was to post a daily photograph of something that caught my eye or I found intriguing. Hopefully it would be a project that could from time to time pique some interest, and help improve my photographic 'eye', so to speak, along the way.

On a side note, the tortoise wayfarers I ordered came through. I am not too keen how they look on me as sunglasses, however once the lenses are popped out, I think they look better. This is just a little video to hopefully show you how they look as they stand.

Think they suit me or not?

(there was actually music in the background, but blogger hates me)

And in the spirit of unrelated tangents, check out my recent interview over at Johnny Dale. He is also the author of a very interesting internet novel, The Darling Budds, which can be found here.

Currently playing: 8 Minutes To Sunrise ft. Jill Scott - Common
